HOUSE OF KOORANG

The House of Koorang is a wholly owned and operated Aboriginal company of Mundara Koorang and Nóvy. The company has been operating since 1996 and up until 2005 was the largest Aboriginal owned wholesale and manufacturing company in Australia. Recently the new retail Aboriginal art, Indigenous Gifts and Information and Resource Gallery was opened in Nowra NSW. This is the first retail business for Mundara and Nóvy.

In coalition with their online store and gallery the House of Koorang has 15 Aboriginal artists on the books and has recently acquired the first Maori artist in joining the ranks. Mundara and Nóvy are renowned activists in the pursuit of informing visitors from other countries and nationally what to look out for when buying Indigenous art and products, and which should be avoided. They are also highly respected in fighting for the rights of artists in receiving legal and fair payments for their artworks. This includes the requirement that all artist complete contracts and are taught in the creation and processing of contracts for any future business relationship or partnership they pursue in the future.

Both Mundara and Nóvy are acclaimed artists. Mundara is an international Aboriginal artist and Elder of the Eora people of Sydney NSW. He has had extensive exhibitions throughout the world and has won many art, writing, photographic and sculpture competitions. He was the first contemporary Aboriginal artist to exhibit in Europe and in Russia. Mundara is also an educator holding a Bachelors degree in Education, Masters Degree in Indigenous Social Politics and is on a sabbatical from a Doctorate of Education as well as author and actor. He teaches literacy & numeracy, science, cultural studies, art, drawing, legislation but to name a few. Nóvy is known for her expertise on Australian and Aboriginal history, culture and ethics. Nóvy is also a genealogist, art and craft teacher and a aura healer. Mundara and Nóvy have been married for just on 30 years and have four children and four grandchildren.

The House of Koorang is prominent and respected for their benevelent donations to Indigenous and non-Indigenous organisations, hospitals, schools and communty centres. They have sponsored young adults in sports and provided trophies for awards ceremonies.

The objective of the House of Koorang is in the provision of Authentic Indigenous created art and products and in providing the largest authentic art and products gallery and store on the internet. Guaranteeing that when they send out a piece of Aboriginal art or item you know you are receiving the 'real rigi-didg thing' and not an imported item made in Asia.

To sum up Mundara and Nóvy and the House of Koorang it would have to be said that they are honest, transparent, charitable and totally bloody dedicated in what they are doing to the extreme.
